What is Hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is a process which diagnoses and treats problems of the womb or uterus. It can spot things which an ultrasound scan cannot identify. That is why this process is important before the IVF procedure.

Why-Hysteroscopy is important

Why is Hysteroscopy important before IVF Treatment?

For IVF patients, it is really important to have Hysteroscopy before the treatment, especially if you have had recurrent miscarriages or implantation issues.

In hysteroscopy, we directly visualize the place where we are going to transfer embryo, so that gives us a better idea of success in IVF.

Many conditions are there where there is issue with inner lining of uterus, which we come to know after Hysteroscopy like Tuberculosis of genital, or STDs.

Plus there are many congenital anomaly of Uterus like septet or sub septet Uterus or unicornuate Uterus or bicornuate uterus. We need to know complete anatomy of uterus by doing hysteroscopy so that we can modify the IVF procedure or post procedure care.

It should also not be forgotten that the situation of each IVF patient is different and whether hysteroscopy should be performed or not is a decision that should be made by your IVF Specialist after personal evaluation.

How is Hysteroscopy Done?

Hysteroscopy procedure involves a telescope-like camera (thin camera) inserted into the uterus via the vagina. This will allow your doctor to see/examine inside the cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes.

If you are having repeated miscarriages, experiencing pelvic pain or facing difficulties in conceiving then it is highly recommended that you should visit IVF Center near you.
